Dear RBHS Families,
With continued extreme heat conditions expected tomorrow and portions of our campus air conditioning system still not functioning as expected, tomorrow will be a minimum day, with dismissal at 1:15 p.m. Students who are unable to arrange transportation home at 1:15 p.m. may remain on campus in the library, which will be maintained as a cool, supervised space.
We recognize this is a late notification, and we sincerely apologize. We had hoped to have the air conditioning issue fully resolved by now; however, additional equipment needs to be installed to better support cooling across campus. Given the forecasted heat, we believe adjusting the school day is the appropriate step while that work takes place.
Key adjustments for tomorrow:
- Third period will dismiss at 11:40 a.m.
- Lunch will follow third period.
- Fourth period will dismiss at 1:15 p.m.
- Transportation services will remain uninterrupted.
If your child is involved in one of our fall athletic teams, we will continue to follow CIF guidelines regarding practices and competitions, and coaches will communicate with you as normal when conditions cause concern or need for cancellation.
Please review the attached minimum day schedule for additional details. Assuming the necessary repairs and equipment installation are completed as planned, we expect to resume normal school operations on Friday.
We understand that making a schedule change with little notice may create challenges for families, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We appreciate your flexibility and patience as we continue working to provide appropriate learning and working conditions for our students and staff.
Thank you for your continued patience and support.
